“I have always been the type of person that hates to ask for help. With the struggles I have had trying to find a job, I had to lower my pride and walk into the door at The River. The volunteers and helpers were so kind to me and explained what I needed to do. I ended up with more groceries than I ever imagined I would receive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting food back on my table!”

Announcing the Freezer Project

The River serves between 500 and 600 families EACH WEEK.  With your help we can serve another 125 families a week.  Here's how...

The River would like to install a walk in freezer at our facility. A new freezer, about 12’ x 8’ in size, would allow The River to:

  • purchase larger quantities of frozen food at better prices
  • save on gas by cutting down the number of trips we take to acquire frozen foods
  • provide more food to larger families and add additional pantry sessions

A new freezer, including all installation components and labor, will cost The River about $24,000. The great news is that we are already half way to our goal! The Madison Rotary has committed to contributing $2,350 for the Freezer Project and the East Side Sertoma Club of Madison is willing to provide us with a matching grant of $10,000 towards the new walk-in freezer.

We are only $11,650 away from making this project happen!  With your help, we hope to have the freezer installed by late June or early July.

Would you consider donating toward the Freezer Project?  Your gift of $25, $50, $100 or more will help us reach our goal and provide a secure food source for hundreds more of our needy neighbors.
