“I never dreamed in a million years that I’d be using a food pantry. I was laid off and my 99 weeks of unemployment just ran out. I almost cried the last couple weeks I’ve been here. I am just so thankful for The River.”

ReMitt Project

It may not be our typical cold Wisconsin winter just yet, but The River Food Pantry is here to keep you warm with the ReMitt Project!

ReMitt mittens are hand crafted by volunteers from a Blackhawk church women’s group. The mittens are 100% recycled- made from old wool sweaters. The women felt the sweaters and then craft them into beautiful (and really warm) wool mittens! Best of all- the sale of the mittens benefits The River Food Pantry! So your new mittens will not only keep your hands warm, but they will also warm your heart, because your purchase will help feed a family in need in Dane County.

Each pair of mittens is totally unique- you won’t find another pair like it! From bold colors to fun designs, there’s a pair of mittens for everyone’s style.

* Men’s and Women’s mittens: $30

* Men's and Women's fingerless mittens: $30

* Wisconsin Badger mittens: $40

Gift of Gobble

It’s that time of year again. Imagine the stress many families in our north side community go through during the holiday season.   finishedturkey

For some, a $25 turkey for Thanksgiving Dinner cannot be added into their budget. You can help these struggling families by giving the “Gift of Gobble”.

In 2015, The River distributed 840 turkeys and/or hams during Thanksgiving week and served 950 meals at The River’s annual Thanksgiving Feast! In order to provide enough turkeys this year, The River needs your help.

Every time we receive 25 donated turkeys, our turkey gets a feather!

Here's How You Can Help:

-Donate $25 for every turkey you would like to see given to a family in our community who shops at The River. Donate online or drop off a check/cash at the pantry. Specify "Turkey" in the designation/comment box when donating online or on the check memo.

-Donate a turkey (or two or three or more) by Friday, November 11 to be served the following Friday at The River’s annual Thanksgiving Feast or distributed to families for their own Thanksgiving celebrations.

Are you a business owner? Challenge your employees to donate and double the donation by doing a match!

Donations can be dropped off at The River Food Pantry, 2201 Darwin Road, Madison, WI 53704.

Print out this flyer and host a drive at your church, business or with friends and neighbors! If you have any questions, contact Development Director Amy Lord, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

A big thanks to Nord Drive Systems for once again donating for the Gift Of Gobble!
