The River, the busiest pantry in Madison set a new attendance record in May 2012 with 2736 family visits and again served more than 2700 in August 2012 with 2727 visits.

Donations of Food and Personal Items

The River gives away 25,000 – 30,000 pounds of food every week.

We feed about 600 Dane County families per week. Our stock of meat, groceries, household, and personal items has about a two-week rotation. We often run out of important items.  Please help! We welcome your donations of:

Foods:

  • Canned proteins such as tuna or chicken
  • Canned pasta meals with meat
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned soups
  • Canned pasta Sauces
  • Meat expanders such as Hamburger Helper or Tuna Helper
  • Pasta
  • Boxed cereals

Personal Items:

  • Soap
  • Lotions
  • Toilet paper
  • Diapers
  • Vitamins
  • Shampoo & conditioner
  • Feminine hygiene products

Donations are welcomed at The River Food Pantry at 2201 Darwin Rd, Madison, WI 53704. Because The River is a 501(c) (3) charity, the value of your donations is 100 percent tax deductible. Volunteers are available to accept your generosity at the following times:
