“I never dreamed in a million years that I’d be using a food pantry. I was laid off and my 99 weeks of unemployment just ran out. I almost cried the last couple weeks I’ve been here. I am just so thankful for The River.”

TDS Donates Cargo Van Just in Time for the Holidays

Madison, Wis. – Tuesday, November 20, 2012: On Thursday, November 15, TDS Telecommunications Corporation donated a cargo van to The River Food Pantry. Al Ripp, representing TDS, handed off the keys to Andy and Jenny Czerkas, River directors, in a short ceremony Thursday afternoon with a crew from WKOW present.

The River procures and distributes 30,000 pounds of food each week and is thankful to add a third vehicle to the lineup to help handle the volume of food that needs to be transported, said Jenny Czerkas.

“And with the holiday season here,” Andy added, “this will help tremendously.”

"We're really happy about it," Czerkas said. "You know there's a huge need out there today still; it hasn't really abated. We'll be flooded with people here in the next few days here for Thanksgiving and any help that we can get along these lines is just fantastic."

TDS has partnered with The River Food Pantry before as a sponsor for the River’s annual Harvest Dinner for Hunger and as a financial contributor.

The River Food Pantry serves over 2,600 Dane County families every month.
