"I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you. The River was a source of comfort for me a few years back when I lost a job. Before that, like many people seem to, I thought a food pantry was only for "bums". I was ashamed to go. But once there, I saw the people there were just like me - people who had simply fallen on bad luck, were having trouble making ends meet. It was a very respectful place, free from judgment. Thank you."

Former Client

Gina Leahy - Administrative Assistant

Gina2

My name is Gina Leahy and I have been with the River Food Pantry since July 2014.  I came to The River because I was looking for an opportunity to help people and make a difference in the Madison community.  I am inspired by the many people who come to The River and by their stories.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out, shopping and cooking.   I am also an avid book-lover.

My heroes are my dad and my uncle.  They both have been through so much and still they are always positive.  I love a wide variety of music, especially 80’s music and my favorite band is REO Speedwagon.  My favorite sports teams are:  Drake University Crew team (my daughter rows for Drake) and Mendota Rowing Club (which has been such an important part of our family for many years).  Being from Green Bay, I cheer for the Packers and I'm Badger Fan.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
