Construction on The River Food Pantry’s new building continues to move along at a good pace. Now is a great time to drive by the site, as you will see many activities occurring. The building framing is nearly complete, including the erection of the structural steel framing for the mezzanines. The standing-seam metal roof is almost complete, and the installation of the exterior metal wall panels will begin soon.

While not quite as exciting as seeing the building go up, the utility work for the project is also nearing completion. The sanitary sewer line and water supply line have been installed. Underfloor plumbing and electrical runs are also being installed. Installation of the wells for the geothermal system will begin soon.

This project has been an incredibly collaborative process between The River team, our architectural partners at Ramaker, and all of our construction partners, who are being led by our construction manager, Advanced Building Corporation.

As of May 2025, The River has received gifts and grants totaling more than $11.94 million to construct our new building! Our larger, purpose-built facility will allow us to serve the rising number of people who rely on The River for healthy, nutritious groceries and meals.
