The River Food Pantry is moving to a brand new building at 3301 Packers Ave. The new building will be open by early February 2026! Here are the latest updates on how this transition will impact our operations.

January Food Distribution – Different Location and Hours
Dec. 23, 2025, will be the LAST DAY operating at the current location: 2201 Darwin Rd.
There will be no food distribution from Dec. 24, 2025, to January 8, 2026.
In January, The River will host drive-thru pantries at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Distribution hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on these dates:

Food Donations
Monday, Dec. 22 is the LAST DAY we will accept food donations at the building at 2201 Darwin Rd.
We will begin accepting donations again at our new building at 3301 Packers Ave. on Jan. 9. Look for the large black donation drop-off bin located near the loading docks, which will be out from 10 am–2 pm Monday through Friday.
While we get set-up in our new building, we invite you to help us Pack the Pantry on Packers Ave!
The River will host a drive-thru donation drop-off event on Monday, Jan. 26 from 10 am–4 pm. You will get a peek at our new indoor drive-thru when you bring your donation!
Volunteers
We are very excited to move to our new home at 3301 Packers Ave. With that excitement comes a lot of planning, coordination, and communication.
Here’s our estimated timeline:
- Tuesday, Dec. 23: Last day of service in current location.
- Wednesday, Dec. 24–TBD opening day in new building: Closed to pack, move, set up, get oriented, and prepare to serve our community with you. Stay tuned for emails with new volunteer shifts. While we are closed, there will not be volunteer shifts to sign up for on Volgistics.
- Early February: Open in new, improved facility!
When we are ready to open at the new location, we will email you an invitation to sign up for shifts. These shifts may be at different times than our current shifts, as we are assessing our current hours and will make adjustments to improve our services in our new space. You may see new shifts, as we are bringing back some pre-pandemic services, such as clothing and on-site meals. We will provide updated shift descriptions and on-site training and support.
